Woodcut
A woodcut is a print produced from a wooden block. Areas to be left blank on the paper are cut away from the surface of the wood; the lines left in the relief on the block are inked, and leave a mark on the paper when they are printed. The process is often confused with wood engraving (see the entry for Engraving). The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DN
