Saint Romuald

Romuald (about 952 - 1027) entered the Benedictine Order to atone for his father's murder of a relative. He founded communities where the virtues of silence and solitude were promoted. The most famous of these is the monastery at Camaldoli near Arezzo (see the entry for the Camaldolese Order).

Romuald is usually depicted in white with a cross and/or a skull.
