The Art Fund

The National Art Collections Fund is a charity which since its foundation in 1903 has helped British museums to buy works of art for their collections.

The National Gallery has benefited from the generosity of the Art Fund, which acquired the 'Rokeby Venus' by Velazquez for the Collection in 1906 and contributed towards the purchase of many other important works such as 'Mr and Mrs Andrews' by Gainsborough and the 'Triumph of Pan' by Poussin.
