Dormition
The death of the Virgin Mary is referred to as the Dormition.
According to the 'Golden Legend', the twelve apostles were miraculously transported from all over the world to be present at her bedside. The Virgin is shown lying on her bed, dead or dying, surrounded by the mourning apostles.
