Chastity

Chastity is a virtue personified in mythological and religious contexts. In the latter, her attributes can include a palm, as a reminder of virgin martyrs, or a tower, in reference to the virgin Saint Barbara. As one of the monastic vows, chastity was often depicted with the others - poverty and obedience, notably in religious Franciscan institutions.

Chastity's attributes in a secular guise can include a sieve which alludes to the vestal virgin Tuccia. The virgin goddess Diana is also an exemplar of chastity.

Chastity is often represented repelling the arrows of Love with a shield.
