Bible

The Bible forms the basis of the faiths of Judaism and Christianity, whose adherents believe that it contains the word of God.

The Old Testament, which begins with the Book of Genesis, recounts the creation of the world, the story of Adam and Eve and the history of the people of Israel. It also contains the Psalms and the books of the Prophets.

The New Testament comprises the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), which record the teachings of Jesus Christ and recount his life, death and resurrection; the Acts of the Apostles; the letters written to the early Christian communities; and the Apocalypse, or Book of Revelation.
