Guided by a star, the Three Kings journeyed to Bethlehem to honour the new-born Jesus. They brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. New Testament (Matthew 2: 2-12). Formerly catalogued as Ferrarese School, and then as North Italian, this painting has now been given to Girolamo da Carpi, who trained in Ferrara. A copy and another version are known.
