The words on Saint John the Baptist's scroll, 'Behold the Lamb of God', are taken from his Gospel. New Testament (John 1: 29 and 26). This work was previously attributed to Montagna, but is probably a late work by Buonconsiglio. It appears to have been painted as an independent picture.
