Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini: 'Rebecca at the Well'
Abraham sent his servant to his homeland to find a wife of his own people for his son Isaac. Genesis 24 tells the story of how God led the servant to Rebekah (the usual spelling of this name), when she came to the well to fetch water. Rebekah was of Abraham's clan, an appropriate wife for Isaac.

Probably painted while Pellegrini was in England between 1708 and 1713.
