Follower of Hieronymus Janssens: 'Ladies and Gentlemen playing La Main Chaude'

Explore the paintings

The game which the figures are playing involves one person hiding his face on the lap of another, and then guessing who has hit his hand which is behind his back.

This painting was formerly attributed to Janssens, but is now considered to be the work of a follower. It can probably be dated by the clothes to about 1655-65.
