Bartholomeus Breenbergh: 'The Finding of the Infant Moses by Pharaoh's Daughter'
In order to escape Pharoah's order to kill Israelite boys, Moses was placed in an ark of bulrushes in the Nile. He was found by the Pharoah's daughter and her attendants. Moses' sister Miriam offered to find a nurse for the child and so was able to return him to his mother. Moses later led the Israelites to the Promised Land. Old Testament (Exodus 2: 1-6).

Breenbergh has placed the figures in an expansive Italianate landscape dotted with pseudo-classical ruins.
