Room A Screen 3
The King kneeling to kiss the Child's foot has handed his gift to Joseph. This panel, probably painted in Florence during the first half of the 15th century, is close to the style of Fra Angelico, although not of high enough quality to be by him.
This painting probably formed part of a predella, or lower section of an altarpiece. Similar panels exist of the 'Marriage of the Virgin' and the 'Death of the Virgin' (San Marco, Florence), and a 'Nativity' (private collection).
