Room A Screen 28
Behind the two boys is an easel with a grisaille of the story of Gideon (Old Testament, Judges 6: 36-40 and 7: 5-6) on it. The painting has been attributed to Jacob van Oost on the basis of comparison with a signed painting in Bruges and dated to about 1645 on the grounds of the costumes the boys are wearing.
