Christ is shown after the Deposition from the Cross, with the Virgin standing in the centre, the Magdalen at Christ's feet, and Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus at his head.
This is a fragment of a small panel, probably from a predella. The original composition would have extended to the right and probably to the left. The standing figure of the Virgin, and to a lesser degree the figure of Christ, correspond with an engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi.
