Saint Romulus: Frame Panel

This roundel probably formed part of a predella. It has been suggested that it could have come from the frame of an altarpiece by Fra Angelico for S. Domenico, Fiesole (see also 'Christ Glorified in the Court of Heaven'). Another roundel of similar dimensions showing a bishop saint and evidently from the same work is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The execution of this roundel has sometimes been given to Fra Angelico's workshop.
