Explore the paintings
This painting was probably influenced by a Byzantine icon. It shows the Virgin and Child, together with images which represent the Redemption of Man by Christ: the Annunciation and the Crucifixion. On either side is the Last Judgement, with trumpeting angels calling people from their tombs. It may be missing a gable with the Blessing Redeemer at the top and possibly wings on either side.
