After Nicolas Poussin: 'The Triumph of Silenus'

Explore the paintings

The figure seated at the left is Silenus.

It is debatable whether this is by Poussin, although it is generally agreed that the composition is by him. The original was, like 'The Triumph of Pan', painted for Cardinal de Richelieu for installation in the Cabinet du Roi at the chateau de Richelieu around 1636.
