After Joos van Cleve: 'The Adoration of the Kings'

Explore the paintings

The central panel from a triptych: the other two kings are presumed to have been on the missing shutters. The figures on the right in the background are likely to be part of the procession following the kings to the stable. The elaborate classical-style architecture and the effects of distance are characteristic of the work of Netherlandish artists of this period.

This is a copy of the 16th century but it may not have come from the workshop of Joos van Cleve himself. There are several versions, one of which is said to have the initials J.B., a supposed signature of Joos van Cleve.
