After Guido Reni: 'Perseus and Andromeda'

Explore the paintings

Perseus flies in to rescue Andromeda who is chained to a rock as a sacrifice to placate the sea monster sent by Poseidon to destroy her native country. Ovid, 'Metamorphoses' (IV, 783-960).

This is an old copy with slight variations of an original by Reni (Pallavicini collection, Rome) which is dated to about 1635.
