Talk and Play
Talk and Play is a programme of interactive storytelling and practical workshops for children aged under-5 and their parents and carers, with particular focus on Sure Start Children’s Centres.
Resources
The Talk and Play resource consists of a large scale reproduction of Rubens’s ‘Het Steen’, which can be used as a play mat. This is accompanied by multi-sensory objects, toys and books which relate to the painting.
Sessions
Sessions take the painting as a starting point for storytelling and creative play activities including: singing, storytelling, painting, making and role-play. The themes explored include:
- Seasons
- Homes
- Food
- Places
- Animals
- Colours and shapes.
Talk and Play sessions are flexible and can be delivered either at The National Gallery or at external community venues.
