From the sound artist:
I was attracted by the dark, disturbed eyes of this woman, a former nun who escaped from a convent and wandered aimlessly until Cézanne took her in as a servant. The voices we hear represent the woman reflecting back over her life. At times the speech becomes distorted as she gets confused and agitated. I used dissonant piano chords and repetition to convey her fear and confusion.
