The National Gallery is collaborating with Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication on 'Transcriptions: Sound’, an innovative new project which involves sound design students producing a three-minute response to a painting of their choice in the Gallery's collection.

The alchemist is following his desire to turn base metals into gold to the exclusion of reality, shown by the disorganisation in the room and his ignored wife and children. I drew a parallel here with the work I do professionally as a sound editor; when I have to meet a deadline, my life takes a similar turn.
