From the sound artist:
In Botticelli’s remarkable and serene painting an upright and alert Venus, the god of love, is juxtaposed with a reclining Mars, god of war, demonstrating that love can conquer even the greatest of warriors. My sound piece emphasises the power of Venus. It captures the couple’s love-making and the playfulness of the satyrs, who even playing a conch shell in his ear, cannot wake Mars.
