Tragedy

From the film-maker:

I set about wandering around the Gallery, looking at the works and hoping they would trigger a memory or feeling that I could transform into a film. I must have passed numerous depictions of the Crucifixion of Christ, but Botticini's stood out because of its sombre nature, the dark colours and the angry clouds. The painting does little to foreshadow the eventual Resurrection and therefore seems to be set at the exact moment of Christ's death. It reminded me of a senior prank jocks would play in high school. I wanted to capture a moment in a young teenager's life when something in them dies and, hopefully, to prompt questions about how the prank in the film will transform this kid.
