From the film-maker:
The inspiration for my film came from the subject matter of the painting, which depicts a woman having her fortune told. I was interested in what she might be asking and how she might feel as she gets her answers. I looked for a modern-day twist on the notion of a woman having her fortune told and focused on a simple pregnancy test and the mixture of emotions she might feel before she finally gets her answer.
