The National Gallery is collaborating with the London Film School on 'Transcriptions: LFS Shorts', an innovative new project which involves second term students producing short 3-4 minute films inspired by the Gallery’s collection as part of their course.

Black is, for me, the main colour of this painting. If the light's taken away, the 'demons' haunting the character in the background will overcome him. My film is about a man trying to do whatever he can to not let the light in his life go out. I represented the 'devils' in the background of the painting with sounds and memories that my character can't get rid of. Goya's style is direct, powerful and aggressive. I think a film should have the same characteristics: it should strike you and create a certain feeling. In this case it's fear. My film is about obsession, the inability to let things go and the fear of losing control.
