From the film-maker:
I was drawn to the orange and red tones in the painting and wanted the overall look of the film to be warm and incorporate those aspects in the production design. The composition, to me, focused on the closeness of two women getting ready to go out. The process women go through before they present themselves to the world interested me. I focused my story around two female figures, a mother and daughter, and how they might have different views about a night out on the town. The mother is excited by something new and the daughter is excited by getting to play in a grown-up world. I was inspired by the little glass bottles on the dressing table in the painting. They reminded me of being young and being mesmerised by my mother's make-up and perfume.
