From the film-maker:
I really wanted to work with the message of 'love conquers all'. I was inspired by the time and place of Botticelli's painting, and when reading up on the Medici family I got the idea of a Mafia theme. But the painting is too clear, too simple. There is no such thing as pure good or bad. My main character Don Lorenzo therefore represents both Venus and Mars. It is a story about revenge and letting go. Don Lorenzo de Medici is a powerful Mafia boss. Five years ago he lost his beloved wife when someone betrayed him. The bullet she took was meant for Don Lorenzo, and he has dedicated his life ever since to finding her killer. He has just found out that the scum who betrayed him is a close friend. He sent for him and now he is waiting with a gun in his hand while the traitor approaches his office. But there is someone else in his life, a daughter, whom he risks losing if he lets his hatred decide.
