From the film-maker:
In the painting Venus, the Goddess of Beauty, looks at a mirror supported by Cupid. Although I knew the background and meaning of the painting, Venus seemed to me like a normal contemporary girl who is obsessed by her beauty because of the expectations created by the media in modern life, and who confuses the mirror reflection image as her own identity. I chose Madonna as the main character because she has been both a fashion icon and the Queen of Pop: a symbol of modern beauty whom a lot of girls admire, but who is the same as a normal person who is desperate to keep her beauty. Madonna, as a representation of individuals, gains her own identity at the end of the story.
