From the film-maker:
I picked the ‘Sunflowers’, Van Gogh’s most famous work, as my theme. He created several works about sunflowers, so I think there must be something behind, some secrets that we could never know.
The reason I selected Van Gogh’s work is that you could always feel a number of sentiments in his paintings. Even when I look at the ‘Sunflowers’, which is full of passionate colours, I still feel that there’s a kind of blue sentiment inside.
Well, what kind of circumstance could bring you incompatible feelings? Love, certainly. So I tried to make a story about a dream of Van Gogh explaining that he had some beautiful memory which always stayed in his mind. The search for the female character hints at desire and loss.
As it says at the end of the film, there’s always something unforgettable in our life.
