From the Film Maker:
I chose this piece because I felt that deceit played a major role in Lastman's depiction of this scene of the mythological gods.
I wanted to convey the element of deceit that Lastman portrays in his painting. My focus, therefore, was on the masked man – the allegory of deceit. He seems to reflect the darkness in deceit and the idea that love was the only means of resurrecting the true self represented in the winged child.
In my animation I wanted to convey how it feels and means to be deceived and betrayed, and how that would look visually. I wanted to create an atmosphere of despair and hope, through the use of shadow and light which the main character finds himself in at the latter part of his journey.
