From the film-maker:

This painting made me think in terms of rhythm rather than storyline. There are two opposing characters, Beauty and Old Age, linked by a third one, Time. (Part of the cycle where everything that is beautiful gets old and dies, and then something beautiful is born again.) It inspired me to set a pace where an action starts, stops, and then starts all over again. I looked for that contrast in my animation, a constant change of rhythm and attitude.
