From the film-maker:

I liked the idea of two characters interacting in a natural environment, with a musical instrument thrown into the mix. I played around with the idea of a humanoid alien and a parrot dealing with a problem. I visualised the alien, named Wally, practising guitar under a tree, much like the painting. But little Polly wasn't having any of it! Not in his territory, anyway. The title and feel of the painting suggested to me that the two characters should come to a compromise in the end. The main emphasis was to show the different levels of frustration the main character goes through.
