From the film-maker:
On one level, I think Hammershøi's images and their titles show and tell in a plain, easy language - no problems of meaning arise. But for me, this is only superficial. Many of Hammershøi's paintings, including this one, seem to have an element of hidden mystery. It is this aspect that I tried to illustrate, putting a scene of a woman in a fin de siècle interior in a 'steampunk' setting. This animation is still a work in progress.
