Eating and drinking
Families are welcome to bring packed lunches. During the holidays and on weekends there is a lunch room for families on the second floor of the Pigott Education Centre, where there is also a sink, bins and a nearby water fountain.
Packed lunches may also be consumed in the Pigott Education Centre (Level 0) and in the foyer outside the Sainsbury Wing Theatre.
The National Dining Rooms is the Gallery’s restaurant in the Sainsbury Wing and the National Café is by the Getty Entrance. Both offer highchairs and children’s menus. The Café includes a ‘grab-and-go’ area for quick snacks and sandwiches including a children’s offer. There is also an Espresso Bar on Level 0 below the Portico entrance which serves cakes, snacks, sandwiches and drinks.
Changing and seating
Baby-feeding and breast-feeding are allowed anywhere in the National Gallery. A family room with seating and baby changing facilities is also located on Level 1 of the Sainsbury Wing by the lifts.
Stools are available by request at all Information Desks and are subject to availability. Benches can also be found throughout the Gallery.
The Sainsbury Wing and Getty shops have an excellent range of children’s books. The Getty shop has a broader range of merchandise, from books to small ‘pick n’ mix’ items.
