Generously supported by Mr and Mrs Christoph Henkel and The Dorset Foundation.
Now in its 11th year, Take One Picture is the National Gallery's nationwide scheme for primary schools.
Each year a different painting from the collection is chosen to provide a starting point for cross-curricular work.
Focusing on Pierre Mignard's painting 'The Marquise de Seignelay and Two of her Sons', the 2006 exhibition featured work from eight UK schools, plus a hospital school.
As part of the scheme, over 32,000 children and adults from 180 schools across the country used Mignard's painting as a stimulus to explore a broad range of subjects and key skills, including literacy, numeracy, ICT, science, geography, history and music, as well as art.
The resulting work included painting, photography, jewellery, digital murals, poetry and even erupting volcanoes! The group portrait subject of the painting particularly inspired work around the themes of family and relationships.
