Take One Picture: an exhibition of work by primary schools inspired by Degas's 'Beach Scene'
18 April - 4 July 2005

Generously supported by Mr and Mrs Christoph Henkel and The Dorset Foundation.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of 'Take One Picture', the National Gallery's nationwide primary school scheme. 'Take One Picture' encourages a cross-curricular approach to learning and teaching using a single image to stimulate classroom project work.
For the 2005 exhibition 160 schools from across the UK submitted work based on Degas's 'Beach Scene'. From ceramics and sculpture to music and video re-enactments, the range of work produced in response to the painting was as diverse as the schools that produced it.
Far from being limited to art, the painting inspired work on literacy, numeracy, science, geography, history, music and ICT.
