One student based a cross-curricular scheme of work
on Drouais's 'Madame de Pompadour at her Tambour
Frame'. Starting with a discussion about Madame
de Pompadour's portrait, the Year 5 class considered
how visual clues in a painting can reveal information
about a sitter's personality. The children were
set a homework activity to collect a group of objects
which were meaningful to them.
The cultural diversity of the class was well represented
through the range of personal objects that were
brought into school. These objects formed the basis
of observational drawings which were then developed
into prints.
