'Landscape with Houses in a Wood' Philips Koninck about 1670

		I first saw this painting in Easter 1964 - nearly 40 years ago. That was my very first visit to London, my very first visit to art galleries. Before that time I'd visited provincial galleries in Lancashire, but I'd never seen great art, except through postcards and illustrations in not very good art books. I saw this painting and was just completely bowled over. Today, the painting is just as magnetic, just as compelling.
