The National Gallery is collaborating with Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication on 'Transcriptions: Sound'. The creator on why this painting inspired him:

"Initially, my piece mirrors the glow of the sunset. Resonant oranges and yellows flood the sky as the Temeraire is led to her death.

The great ship appears ghostly -  a shadow of her former fighting days. The soundtrack weaves the sinister nature of ‘end of days’ with the Temeraire’s physical majesty. Military brass and sombre oboe pay respect in a traditional funerary way.

The sound of steam engines can be heard, signifying the maritime departure from wind in sails to steam in pistons, while in the distance there is the ominous clanging of anvils – a constant reminder of her imminent destruction."
