From the Film Maker...

The painting shows nature at its most merciless. However, it also shows the duality of life in the one frame. We see the sunshine breaking through the clouds (light) and the dark menacing sea and clouds (darkness). This is what attracted me. I personally feel there is duality in many people and I wanted to explore this aspect; the sliding scale between good and evil, light and darkness.

I wanted the film to have a general feeling of darkness so I limited the colours I used. Like the painting, I aimed to contrast light and dark. The face of the assassin is cast half in shadow, half in light.

The theme behind the film is struggle; between the elements of the weather, between the men on the ships and the sea. The film revolves around the struggle of the conscience of the assassin. Whether to kill or not.
