Let’s get talking

by Lun Gai

From the Film Maker...

I concentrated on the painting from Venus’s viewpoint in order to make a film about maternal love. I added to this, a theme about life's pleasures being mixed with pain. It is a very important experience which should be shared between parents and children. Through talking with their children, parents can earn trust. Then they can show the right direction to take before it is too late.

Cupid, representing love, is stung by bees. When he took the honey, he didn’t realise that it comes from bees, because he may not have been taught or reminded enough. This led me to think about the dangers of Aids for young gay men. As the first line of defence, mothers could help keep their children out of danger. So just get talking. This little narrative is almost the whole point of my film.
