I liked the clear conflict of the painting. As I was developing a script, a short item on the radio grabbed my interest. A religious hospice was asked to determine whether a terminally ill patient in their care could have sex with a sex worker.

I transferred this to a religious mother and the conflict she would have felt making the decision to grant her terminally ill son's wish to have sex before he died.
