From the Film Maker...

The painting is composed in dark colours giving an overall feeling of sadness and despair. The goal of my film was to recreate this mood.

I found a location that had a similar setup to the bright beam of light coming in from the left of the painting. The man in the painting is reading a book, so I've used books and a library as a central point in my film.
