From the Film Maker...

I chose this painting as it has a hidden depth too it. At first just a caricature, its true power is found when viewed from further away, as it itself acts as a mirror to those that view it.

Through my animation I've tried to discuss the themes and thoughts that arise from it, in a slightly comical and animated fashion. The lead characters are in fact an interpretation of the picture, a role reversal, if you will, showing the flip side that the viewer is on, another caricature, but from modern day Britain, though probably also recognisable from history.

Thus in turn I hope that my animation will also reveal the inner workings of viewers through its banality or humour, depending on the viewer; more than that though I hope the viewer finds something to enjoy in it.
