From the Film Maker...

I wanted to explore Mercury from an emotional angle and shed light on his vulnerabilities. As Mercury is the son of Zeus, king of the gods, there is a weight of expectation on his shoulders. He’s expected to continue a great dynasty in name and in action.

Can we say that true greatness falls into two categories? Some people believe they are born to achieve great things and are almost unaware of their talent and power. Others reach a crossroads where their belief in themselves is challenged. They become self aware to fulfil their greatness. I believe Mercury is from the latter camp which is, in a way, more human, more evocative, and more relevant to me.
