From the Film Maker...

'The Ambassadors' has always been a favourite of mine. The quality of the painting seems really special and the two characters seem to jump out at you.

In my animation I didn't want to stray too far from the original. I aimed to show a relationship between two characters and bring out their personalities. I poke fun at the English and the French – especially English food. At the time the painting was created, in 1533, England and France, although not at war were not the best of friends.

I was keen to inject comedy so I made one of the characters more happy go lucky, while the other remained resolutely miserable.
