Birthday Bash

by Ryoko Watanabe

From the Film Maker...

Inspiration behind this animation is a portrait of a girl holding an astronomical object, an "armilary sphere". She is sitting in front of a picture frame which is on the wall behind her, and it appears as if she is emerging from the picture.

The initial idea I came up with was a child playing with a toy. Gossaert has a very illusionistic style and I decided to adapt that into the story to build the final synopsis.

The toy emerges from the child's control to take the upper hand of the situtation but there is a twist to the conclusion.
