Lotto, 'Family Group', completed 1547

This comfortable Venetian interior with Turkish carpet opens an interesting dialogue with the Sunley Room exhibition 'Bellini and the East' - but what more do we know about this family?

Looking beyond the somewhat stilted poses, we glimpse an endearing image of the family - two animated children encircled by their parents' embrace.
