The Story of Bacchus and Ariadne: Ariadne

Detail of Titian, 'Bacchus and Ariadne'.

Ariadne is distraught. She has just woken to discover that Theseus has left her alone on the island.

At the same moment drunken revellers burst out of the forest nearby and come towards her. They are led by Bacchus, the God of Wine.
